Media Sign Pro’s top priority has been to build the most stable digital signage product on the market from day one. We wanted to create a signage solution that was not only easy to use and affordable, but one that you could depend on to be online 24x7x365 if need be.
We found it to be a common occurrence to find digital signs at airports or retail stores that displayed error messages rather than their intended message. A number of websites were launched to present these “broken” signs for comedic value. Although most people found it humorous, we saw this as an opportunity.
In almost 99% of the cases, an operating system failure caused the system crash. The root causes ranged from viruses, spyware, trojans, memory leaks, and other operating system vulnerabilities. It was immediately clear that the first requirement of creating a stable digital signage application was to choose the right operating system that had the resilience and history of not suffering from those weaknesses.
In comes Apple.
The Mac OS X operating system from Apple has set the standard for robust and stable working environments. It just works. No need for memory crushing anti-virus software and the required weekly scans. No worries about potential memory leaks. No need for constantly having to perform software updates to the OS because a hacker found a new hole. You need digital signage, not an IT guy to manage. Why worry about these issues, when you should be focusing on your clients and improving revenue. It was clear from very early on that Mac exclusivity was going to be our first requirement for Media Sign Pro.
"The Mac mini is not only our most affordable Mac, it's also the world's most energy efficient desktop computer." Tim Cook - COO, Apple
The most efficient way to run Media Sign Pro is on Apple’s Mac mini running the Snow Leopard operating system. The Mac mini is the world’s most energy-efficient computer that comes in a form factor that can be easily attached to the back of any LCD screen. Mac mini meets the strict low power requirements set by the EPA, giving it an ENERGY STAR qualification. Mac minis have also earned the highest rating of EPEAT Gold. The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool evaluates the environmental impact of a product based on how much energy it uses, how it’s designed and manufactured, and how recyclable it is.
So not only does Media Sign Pro run on only one device, but that one device is also the greenest device currently sold in the computing market.
To top it off, with the Mac mini’s built-in WiFi, you can connect and make changes to your digital sign without any wires and from anywhere in the world via the Internet. It doesn’t get easier than that.
